Professor Francesco Carnevale received the CIRSE 2016 Award of Excellence and Innovation in Interventional Radiology for his role in the development of the PErFecTED technique (Proximal Embolisation First, Then, Embolise Distal) for benign prostatic hyperplasia. He is associate professor of Medicine at the University of São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil, and director of the Interventional Radiology Fellowship Programme
